Akita Sushi offers Bradford a taste of Japan
Bradford West Gwillimbury Mayor Doug White joins Akita Sushi President Jackson Dong, members of Council, Bradford Board of Trade, Royal LePage Your Community Realty at Grand Opening.
Bradford now can offer even more variety for restaurant-goers, with the opening of Akita Sushi at 456 Holland St. West - an all-you -can-eat Sushi restaurant.
Sushi chefs, dressed in traditional garb, handle the fresh vegetables, seafood, chicken, pork and beef with elan and artistry, creating sushi and sashimi, maki (rolls), handrolls, tempura, teriyaki, teppanyaki stir fry and udon noodle dishes.
Sit down in this pleasant, modern restaurant, and helpful wait staff will bring you a menu, and take your order. The sushi ranges from the familiar - fresh tuna, spicy salmon, avocado and cucumber - to the adventurous - unagi (eel) and masago (flying fish roe). For those who are hungry, or who want to sample a variety of dishes, the all-you-can-eat option is a definite bargain. Otherwise, the restaurant offers an a la carte menu that ranges from traditional appetizers - gyoza dumplings, tempura, grilled squid, deep fried soft shelled crab; to sushi and sashimi combos, teriyaki and more, all served with soup and salad.
Another bargain: traditional Japanese Bento Boxes, offering a combination of sushi, tempura and teriyaki, soup, green salad and rice, which can cost under $10, depending on whether you opt for the Spring, Summer or Fall Bento.
This is the third restaurant for owner-president Jackson Dong, who was on hand for the Grand Opening on March 18, welcoming diners with a taste of Japan.
Dine in or take out, Akita Sushi is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Monday to Saturday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday, and is licensed. All-you-can-eat lunch is $12.99; all-you-can-eat dinner ranges from $18.99 to $20.99 - but be warned. The helpings are generous; you may be charged the a la carte price for leftovers. Located at 456 Holland St. W., Unit 1, 905-775-1688.
