Boating accident on Lake Simcoe
On August 1, at approximately 4:30 p.m., South Simcoe and York Regional Police marine units responded to a boating accident on Lake Simcoe, near Roches Point.
A 48' speedboat was southbound on the lake at a high rate of speed, when it hit the wake of another boat and flipped - ejecting both the operator and a passenger into the water, underneath debris from the boat.
Witnesses in the area were able to jump in and recover both victims. A doctor on a nearby boat attended and performed CPR on one of the victims, who was initially without vital signs. The doctor was able to revive the man.
The victims were transported to Monto Reno Marina where paramedics met the South Simcoe Police boat and transported the pair to a local hospital, with serious but not life-threatening injuries.
