A former member of The Barenaked Ladies has begun legal action after alleging he has received no royalties for the theme song to TV show The Big Bang Theory.

Ex-frontman Steven Page claims he was promised 20 per cent of all proceeds from the track but alleges in legal documents that band member Ed Robertson is the only musician who has received any payment.

Page says he is unsure of the total profits that have been generated by the use of the theme song in the award-winning TV show, which stars Jim Parsons and Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting, but he believes they are in excess of $1 million, according to TMZ.com.
