There's one thing about outdoor festivals: they are at the mercy of the weather.

The sudden dip in temperatures on Wednesday has organizers biting their nails over this weekend's outdoor events,which include  the Canadian Armed Forces Day and Air Show at CFB Borden, and Innisfil's Summerfest.

Summerfest, presented by the Innisfil Community Events Corporation, takes place June 10 to 12, at Innisfil Beach Park. Admission is free with a donation of non-perishable food or cash for the Innisfil Food Bank; there will be a cover charge to get into the Main Stage area in the evening, for live entertainment. Gate opens at 5 p.m. on June 10, with performances by Joe Abbot, and Carl Rundown Band ($5 cover after 7:30 p.m.). June 11 – Kids and Cops Fishing Derby starts at 7:30 a.m. at the public pier, with awards on stage at 11:30 a.m. Main gate and Midway open at 10 a.m. The Innisfil's Got Talent competition will be on the main stage starting at 1 p.m., and evening performances will include Elton Rohn (Elton John tribute), and Green River Revival (CCR tribute); $10 cover after 9 p.m. Fireworks at 10 p.m. or dusk. June 12 – gates open at 10 a.m. for the Classic Car Show, Elvis & Friends entertainment, and a fabulous Celebrity Spaghetti Eating Contest at noon. Don't miss it!

The 2016 Canadian Armed Forces Day and Air Show take place June 11 and 12 at CFB Borden. Gates open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and parking is free. For more information, see www.bordenairshow.ca Donations of non-perishable food for local food banks will be welcomed.

The Barrie Jazz & Blues Festival takes place  at various venues in Barrie, Bradford West Gwillimbury, Georgina, Innisfil, Midland and Orillia, to June 20. The Floyd Hall Trio will perform at the Cookstown Public Library on Saturday, June 11 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. - free jazz at the Library! The Lakeshore Public Library in Alcona will host a concert by J. Mondew, with Ethan Ardelli, Ted Quinlan and Andrew Stewart, on Friday, June 17, from 6 to 9 p.m. And Beverly Taft and The Swell Fellas bring their tin pan alley tunes to the Bradford Public Library on Saturday, June 18 from 2 to 5 p.m. - free.   For more information see barriejazzbluesfest.com

Innisfil Rotary's Family Fun Day returns to the Innisfil Recreation Complex and YMCA on Saturday, June 18, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Includes free hot dogs and refreshments, giveaways, and a free ride on the Rotary Candyland Express train. There will be numerous displays by Community partners and organizations – the perfect opportunity for families to connect with their community, its services and its people.

It's being called a “Community Chow-Down” - Bradford's first Food Truck Festival, taking place Saturday, June 25 in front of the Zehr's Market, 500 Holland St. West. From noon to midnight, 16 food trucks will be serving up international cuisine in a carnival setting that will include live entertainment, a Beer Tent, Kidzone with Inflatables, and Marketplace with an estimated 40 vendors. Headliners are Bon Jovi Tribute “Keep the Faith,” and Journey Tribute band, Absolute Journey. Come out and experience Food Truck Culture. Organized by the BWG Events Group.
