INNISFIL - An Innisfil man facing previous sexual assault charges is being held in custody after a South Simcoe police investigation revealed other, similar allegations.

He was rearrested this month at an Innisfil location.

Police say they began a sexual assault investigation last month involving the 73-year-old man and three female victims between the ages of six and eight years old.

The allegations involved incidents that took place this past summer in Innisfil.

The man was arrested Sept. 30 and charged with three counts of sexual assault and three counts of sexual interference. He was released with a November court date and had several strict conditions he was to abide by.

According to South Simcoe police, as the investigation progressed, three more victims came forward.

Police said the new allegations date as far back as 1977, up to and including 2016. Police are not releasing the victims' ages or genders.

As a result, the man was rearrested. He has been charged with an additional three counts of sexual assault, two more counts of sexual interference and one count of indecent assault on a female.
