A community Thanksgiving

By Bradford Times Staff

Thanksgiving is all about being thankful for the blessings received – for food on the table, for family and friends. It's about coming together in fellowship, to share the bounty of the season. It's about thinking of others.

For a third year, Greater Life Community Church held a Community Thanksgiving Dinner that was all of those things – a free turkey dinner, served up by volunteers that included church members and members of Bradford West Gwillimbury Council, to anyone in the community who wanted to attend.

Held upstairs at the Bradford & District Memorial Community Centre on October 7, the dinner included turkeys donated by Zehr's Market in Bradford, potatoes and vegetables purchased with a $100 gift card donated by Conroy's No Frills, and other items contributed by the community. An assembly line of volunteers prepared the plates, brought to the tables by Councillors Ron Orr, Peter Ferragine, Mayor Rob Keffer and other servers, including Pastor Eaton Grant.

Pastor Grant said the blessing, that summed up the evening: “Thank you for this day. Thank you for Thanksgiving.”
