Wimpy's Diner has a Thanksgiving tradition. Restaurants from coast to coast open their doors on Thanksgiving Day, and serve up a free Thanksgiving dinner, as a thank you to the community and their customers.
It's a tradition embraced by Bradford Wimpy's owners Kate and Bob Yip. For a third year, they'll be cooking up both turkey and ham, and welcoming the community to a sit-down dinner, on Monday, October 9 from 4 to 7 p.m.
Everyone is welcome. Dinner will start with Chicken and Rice soup, to be followed by Turkey, Ham, mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables, with tea or coffee and a slice of pumpkin pie for dessert – all at no charge, just to “give back to the community.”
“Thanksgiving is a family time,” Kate explains, “but there are people who don't have a family, who don't have a place to go on Thanksgiving.” And since Wimpy's is a family restaurant, she wants to share its warm atmosphere at Thanksgiving.
There are no reservations. Guests will be accommodated on a first come, first served basis. Wimpy's Diner is located at 305 Barrie St., in the North Bradford Square plaza.
