Activities at the Library...Book Sale this weekend!
The BWG Public Library & Cultural Centre hosted a Children's Jewellery-Making Workshop last Saturday, thanks to a generous donation from the family of the late Judith Mercier. The family sold a collection of Mercier's jewellery at the BWG Studio Art Tour, and donated the $800 raised to the library, to support the free workshop – where kids learned the craft of Jewellery-Making from Andrea Ciurria and Andrea Vander Kooij.
The kids practised on polished stones, weaving a wire mesh to make a pendant – then made the real thing, using precious and semi-precious stones, in the style of Mercier's own jewellery. “We wanted to honour her work,” said Ciurria.
