Fiddler on the Roof returns to Cookstown
Fiddler on the Roof, in rehearsal in Cookstown. The musical opens Nov. 2. Submitted
South Simcoe Theatre went to its patrons last year, as part of its 50th Anniversary celebration, and asked them to suggest favourite plays and musicals to reprise for the coming 2017-2018 Season.
The response was overwhelming, and high on the list was Fiddler on the Roof. With the story by Joseph Stein, music by Jerry Bock and Lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, Fiddler is an all-time favourite – a story of love, family and faith, filled with songs like Sunrise, Sunset, and If I were a Rich Man.
The musical is the first in the new season, and will be on the Old Town Hall stage, 1 Hamilton St. in Cookstown, from November 2 to 19. Performances take place Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights at 8 p.m., and Sundays at 2 p.m.
