Bradford Dragon Force Weekend Wrap-up for June 10-11, 2017
The U16s had a very difficult time against an older Masters Futbol Academy, where DFC lost 5 -3. Dragon Force faced a physical team that drove to the goal very aggressively and proved to be a tough challenge. Despite the loss, the game had some positive takeaways that saw Dragon Force roar back after finding themselves down 2-0 twenty minutes into the game, but ending the half with a 2-2 tie. Standout performances included those from Thomas Perri and James Kotsouvitis.
The U15 team travelled to Oakville to face ADP, where Dragon Force made the game look easy. Despite the heat and the long drive, DFC was able to control the game, with Patrick Braun, Victor Alves and Adriano Silva-Zambri setting the plays and imposing the Dragon Force style. Marcus Tsaltas worked hard and was rewarded with 2 goals. Nathan Ferreira scored on a penalty shot after he was tackled inside the box. Additional highlights included Mathew Leeds, left back, who scored a fantastic goal from 30 meters out, and Victor Alves who finished a post-in shot after a brilliant team play. Dragon Force came away with an easy 5-0 victory.
The U14s lost 2-1 on a hot and muggy pitch in Brampton. Dragon Force appeared to be in control of the game, but two mistakes ended up costing them two goals against. The DFC players deserve a lot of praise, because they never gave up or lost belief in themselves and continued to fight for a win.
Dragon Force’s U12 team visited Oshawa, to face DeRo United, and showed the true Dragon spirit. In a very tough game, against an aggressive opponent, Bradford stuck to the Dragon Force methodology and came away with 3 goals. Coach Leo Vicari says” this team carries the Dragon Force DNA!” Mathew Carvalheiro and Matteo Pitocco had some fantastic combinations, resulting in a goal, exhibiting exactly why soccer is “the beautiful game.”
The U9s also played in Oshawa against DeRo United. It was a tough game for the team from Bradford. The opponent was very aggressive and always fighting for the ball. DFC’s Sebastian Recalde, Tiago Viaes, Adriano Dias continued to try using their “weapons” even at the cost of their own legs! This DFC team proved that they are capable of playing the FC Porto way. They completed some gorgeous plays and Marcus Carvalheiro crowned the game with sacrifice, belief and a brilliant goal!
The U8 team had two games in Brampton against the Blue Devils Academy. These little dragons are working hard and continuing the journey to achieve the goal that their coaches have set for them. The team is starting to move the ball and using their “weapons” creatively. The goals are being achieved step-by-step, and coach Sergio says “these little dragons will set soccer fields on fire!” Sebastian Quiroga along with Marco Prochilo and Adam Ahmadzai stayed focused and exerted maximum effort to fight for both games and display their best moves.
This coming weekend Dragon Force will be back at their home, the Dragon’s Den, located at the Bradford Portuguese Cultural Centre as well as at Henderson field in Bradford. Come and cheer on your local teams and witness the beautiful game played the FC Porto way!
